who is Painter Joe?
I’m a 34-year-old Glasgow School of Art graduate in Fine Art and the son of an old, dead, sign painter called Brian.
As well as having a signpainter Dad, I am a signpainter Dad! I live in Glasgow with my 3 tiny kids, where I have previously been a barman, waiter, support worker, youth worker, primary teacher, bike courier, and practicing artist.
Now though, I’m just a friendly guy who likes to paint things.
Who was the Patriarch Brian?
The digital revolution pushed him out of the painting game and not much remains of his output, but between the late 70s and mid 90s, BJ Sloan smashed out some truly epic signworks…
Brian passed away in 2018 after a wee struggle with early onset dementia.
